Made-to-order, from Berlin

I'm Sophie, the person behind Sofy G Studio, a Berlin-based studio working across two disciplines that don't usually share a website: handmade, made-to-order clothing and floral design. Both sides of the work follow the same idea. Nothing is made until someone asks for it, and every piece is built around the person or the space it's for.

I've been sewing since 2020. It started during my Biotechnology studies in Ireland, where I sold second-hand fashion on Depop and began making my own pieces when I couldn't find what I had in mind. Since then I've drafted patterns, refined my construction techniques, and sold over 100 handmade garments, which taught me what makes clothing fit well, feel comfortable, and last.

I started working with flowers while living in the Netherlands and have built my floral practice through four years of hands-on work, from single arrangements to full room installations. In Berlin the two disciplines came together, shaped by the city's electronic music scene and my own sober relationship to it, which led to a line of clothing designed for the dancefloor.

The Clothing

Ideas start from something I own that doesn't work the way I want, a design I can't find anywhere, or a piece of fabric that suggests a shape. I work with natural fibers where I can, because they breathe and move with the body, which matters when a piece is made for a long night of dancing.

How ordering works

  1. Choose a piece on the website.
  2. Order a standard size, or use the Sizing chart to send your measurements for a fit made for you.
  3. I make your piece after the order is placed. Current making time is about 2-4 weeks depending on the complexity
  4. It ships to you

The florals

My floral work ranges from single arrangements to full room installations for events, photoshoots, restaurants, galleries, and private spaces. That includes free-hand bouquets, vases, hanging installations, and ikebana-influenced arrangements. Recent work includes installations for Moodymann's show at Haus der Visionäre, OHM, and MS Hoppetosse, alongside private commissions.

How a floral project works

  1. Consultation. We meet, in person or at the space, and talk through the occasion, the room, and the atmosphere you want.
  2. Sketch. I sketch the design in front of you, so you can react on the spot. That's often when the hard-to-describe ideas become clear.
  3. Sourcing. I pick materials at Berlin's wholesale flower market, choosing for the season and the design.
  4. Build and install. I build and install every piece myself or with a small team

Each project is quoted individually based on the space, scale, and occasion.
